We may have just found our new fav band.. Don't sleep on the epic-ness that is maewest - a Chicago based post hardcore band that just released their debut EP - “Let’s Not and Say We Did”, which is a total gem of an album.
The first track we heard was “New Jaw” and it immediately grabbed our attention - the masterful combination of melodic emo-heavy beauty in the verses that explode into tasteful screamo angst in the chorus is expertly executed. Sure, it's a well-known recipe, but one that maewest has made their own. We get strong vibes of Alexisonfire and Brand New, even some Taking Back Sunday, but there is something else as well.
The rest of the EP gives more of this awesomeness and makes for a really really rad listen. Great production and recording quality across the songs, these guys clearly know what they're doing.
